Arnold Man Jailed For Carjack Attempt

Calaveras County deputies are charging an Arnold area man with attempted carjacking after an incident on Highway 4 near Copperopolis.
Deputies say 27-year-old Edmond Santos Jr. was involved in a traffic accident, and tried to take the other driver’s car. Several witnesses say Santos tried to wrest the keys from the 60-year-old man, and to punch him, before several bystanders overpowered him. Santos was also charged with drunk driving, and a companion was charged with public drunkenness.
