Cell Phone-Related Crashes Higher

The number of statewide auto accidents caused by the use of cell phone is a lot higher than California Highway Patrol officials thought. The CHP is re-examining data it had collected before releasing a report to legislators. A reworked report will include data showing drivers using cell phones had been blamed for nearly seven times the number of accidents originally cited.
