Power Could Be Restored By Wednesday

Pacific Gas and Electric officials are now revising their estimate of when they will get power restored to over 1,600 customers in eastern Tuolumne County.

Power was knocked out yesterday afternoon when extreme winds snapped 14 power poles off at their bases in the Cold Springs area.

About 1,645 PG and E electrical customers in Strawberry, Pinecrest, Leland Meadows and Dodge Ridge are still without power this morning.

Yesterday evening’s estimate put restoration of power three to four days away.

Mark Hendrickson with PG and E says the revised estimate is tomorrow, Wednesday, at 6 p.m.

Given the remote area where the downed power lines are, getting to them for repairs will be no easy task.

Hendrickson said they will either use large Caterpillar tractors to carry the poles or, if the weather clears enough, helicopters.
