The first winter storm of the season is arriving in the upper elevations. Above the 8-thousand foot level a winter storm warning is in effect from Yosemite to Kings Canyon.
Up to a foot of snow is expected to fall above 10-thousand feet, and about 8 inches at 8-thousand. Travelers heading over the mountain passes are advised to take chains and prepare for winter driving conditions. Tioga Pass is closed. It´s expected to re-open later in the week. Sonora Pass is closed 26 miles east of Strawberry.
