Delacy Remembered For Wit And Humor

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Popular local musician Ron Delacy has passed away.

The Columbia resident entertained a countless number of fans in the 1990’s when he and Dave Cavanaugh formed the group Doodoo Wah. They were one of the most popular acts in the region, and also toured nationwide. Friends and fans alike were sad to hear that Delacy passed away Monday morning following a long battle with cancer.

When contacted this morning, Cavanaugh said Delacy will be greatly missed, and that he had a great way of connecting with people through his music. “He had a self-deprecating wit, and was just a real person that kind of said what everybody was thinking,” says Cavanaugh. “He had a way of putting it into common words.”

Doodoo Wah had performed only sparingly over recent years. They had produced a total of six CD’s.

Delacy was raised in Vallejo, spent four years in the U.S. Army, and worked for six daily newspapers. 27 years of his professional career was spent working for the Modesto Bee, where he served as a reporter and editor.

Delacy is survived by his wife and children.
