Calaveras Weekend Crashes
The CHP reports that there were two vehicle accidents in Calaveras County over the weekend that resulted in ambulance trips to area hospitals.
The CHP says that 62-year-old Talibah M. Alrafiq of San Andreas was driving a 2003 Lexus on Highway 49 near Cosgrave Road. The truck in front of her, driven by John W. Baker of Sonora, started to slow down as he prepared to turn. The CHP says Alrafiq’s vehicle was traveling too fast and she hit the truck. Alrafiq was taken by ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center to treat minor injuries. Baker was not hurt in the crash.
Also, Yesterday afternoon 18-year-old Jackie Elrod Jr. and 18-year-old Katelyn Whitmore Hoey, both of Sacramento, were on a 2008 Eagle Scooter on Blue Mountain Road in the Railroad Flat area. The CHP reports that the vehicle’s brakes locked up and the pair was ejected. They were taken to Sutter Amador Hospital to treat their injuries. The crash happened at 3:10pm.
