D.A. Knowles Retiring

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County’s District Attorney will not seek another term. Michael Knowles says he is retiring when his term ends.

Knowles gives this reason for not running again, “It’s personal. Some things have happened in my life and I need to be with my family.”

Knowles has been the District Attorney since 2012. He was also an assistant D.A. in the county for many years. He also thanks the residents of the county for their support. “It’s been an honor working in the office. It’s a great community. The thing I think that is so great about Tuolumne County is that we have a sense of community, and we need to work to protect that, and not lose that.”

Knowles’ position is up for election in June of this year. He says he is backing Tuolumne County Assistant District Attorney Laura Krieg for the job as she has already filed to run. Knowles says Krieg is a very competent trial lawyer and will make a good D.A.  No other candidates have filed to run for the office at this time.

Knowles last day on the job will be January 5th 2015.
