Avalon Center Update
Sonora, CA — Avalon Care Center Officials report the facility could reopen this weekend after being closed to the public due to a Noro Virus outbreak.
As of last Wednesday, no visitors or new patients were allowed in the Avalon facility after more than 50 of the current 196 residents came down with the virus.
Avalon Care Center Spokesperson Kelly Selman says, “The facility continues to make excellent progress and we are right on track with the plans that we have put in place. We are working with the public health department. It looks like we will be able to reduce or raise most restrictions by this weekend. The target date is this Saturday.”
Selman adds the public health department director has reviewed all the information and believes they are on the right track. She says resident’s family members will be notified via an email or phone call when the restrictions are lifted. Selman does not have a total count of how many residents have come down with the virus at this time.
