Improvements At Calaveras Fairgrounds
Angels, CA — Within the past two months the non-profit “Friends of the Fair” group has spent $24,000 on improvements to the Calaveras County fairgrounds.
Fair CEO Laurie Giannini says it includes a power upgrade at the arena to support the Pro Rodeo activities, re-roofing of a building, purchasing 40 new tables, and purchasing a refrigerator. “Why this is so critical is because it frees up funds for the fair to concentrate on programming, and make the event the best it can be.”
Non-profit groups that support fairs became extra critical since in 2011 when the state made the decision to stop giving subsidies to local county fairs. The 2014 Calaveras County Fair is coming up on May 15-18, and the theme this year is “Fun For The Whole Herd.”
