Let The Bidding Begin
Jamestown, CA — You can bid on the team you think will win the calf scramble in the Mother Lode Round-up and win some cash if they do.
The Calcutta at the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Posse Grounds in Jamestown is tonight at 6 p.m. Each team will be auctioned off to the highest bidder and 25% of the money raised goes for the Posses’ scholarship program.
The teams will compete over the weekend in the Calf Scramble. The teams consist of a mugger and a runner. The mugger is required to hold onto the calf with a rope while a runner ties a ribbon on the calf´s tail and sprints for the finish line. The team with the best time is the winner. The top team will share a portion of the winnings with the bidder. Of the remaining money not going into the scholarship fund, fifty percent will go to the bidder of the winning team; thirty percent goes to the bidder of the second place team and 20 percent to the bidder of the third place team.
One special note, General Chairman of the Round-up Al Obrien says if you give the password “wild horse” at the door tonight’s tickets are half price.
