Mid-July Weekend Events
There are a few large events held this weekend in the Mother Lode area. Friends of Columbia State Historic Park will celebrate Columbia’s 69th year as a California State Park by hosting the 20th annual Big Band Street Dance event on Main Street in Columbia on Saturday. Throughout the day photo displays will liven the streets and museum depicting various buildings during that time period. Details and times for events are here.
In Sonora, to assist residents with household cleanups and curb illegal dumping, Waste Management of Cal Sierra announced a community cleanup event. The community cleanup event is the result of a partnership between the City of Sonora and Waste Management of Cal Sierra. Details about this one-day event are here.
The 65th annual Murphys Homecoming to be held Saturday in the cool confines of the town’s historic park. Suzanne Friedman, President of the Murphys Community Club says “It is a chance to recognize the historical significance of our whole area. We have secured the participation of the Angels Camp museums. They will set up a booth and display of local history. Several members of our Community Club board will be dressed in period costumes to add authentic ambiance.” The event is made possible by the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Ruby Parlor #46.
