Foresta Evacuated Due To Fire

Sponsored by:

Yosemite, CA — A fire burning in Yosemite National Park is estimated to be 300-500 acres, according to spokesperson Kari Cobb.

The fire started this afternoon in the area of the El Portal canyon. Cobb says the community of Foresta, which includes 45 residences, is under a mandatory evacuation. Nearby El Portal is not under an evacuation notice, as Cobb says it appears the fire is moving in a northerly direction, away from El Portal.

There are several road closures in effect near the fire. Air resources from the Columbia Air Attack base are assisting with the effort.

We’ll pass along more information as it becomes available.
