Key Ballot Deadline Passed

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — A key deadline for getting on the November ballot has passed for incumbents. All incumbents intending to run for re-election had to have their paper work in this past Friday by 5 pm. However, if an incumbent is not running in the election, the deadline is pushed to this Wednesday.

Tuolumne County Election’s Official Debi Bautista fills us in on how the races are shaping up. Several races only have one candidate so there will be no contest.

“There are a lot of races where the people who took out paperwork will be appointed as elected, explains Bautista. “They just don’t go on a ballot and the citizens don’t vote. You can see that in some of the districts like T.U.D. [Tuolumne Utilities District] where there are a lot of issues you certainly have interests in being a part of the solution.”

In those T.U.D. races, there are several candidates running and Bautista expects more candidates by Wednesday.
