Young Girls Death Prompts Investigation
Valley Springs, CA — Calaveras County Sheriff’s officials are investigating what caused the untimely death of a 14-year-old girl in Valley Springs.
Deputies were called to a home on the 300 block of Sequoia Avenue around 8:20 this morning where they found the girl motionless and not breathing. Emergency crews pronounced her dead at the scene. During questioning, the parents told investigators that their daughter had not been feeling well and was suffering from an unknown illness. Sheriff’s officials would not reveal the reported sickness. Regarding whether the girl’s death is considered suspicious, Sgt. Anthony Eberhardt replied, “At this time it’s not deemed as suspicious. It’s just due to the nature of the age that we want to do a thorough investigation.” He also notes that the parents have been cooperating with the investigation and stresses they have no history of calls to the home.
An Autopsy to determine the cause of death has been scheduled.
