Fighting Bark Beetle Epidemic One Seedling At A Time
Groveland, CA – The U.S. Forest Service is offering free evergreens to help homeowners reforest their property due to the bark beetle infestation.
Forest spokesperson Diana Fredlund shares, “The Stanislaus National Forest has some seedlings that were purchased by the USDA Forest Service, the Arbor Day and National Forest foundations. We haven’t been able to get to reach the planting areas before the planting season is over and we want them to go to good homes.”
The public can pick up one box per visit of ponderosa pine, incense cedar and white fir seedlings on a first come, first served basis at the Groveland Ranger District Office, 24545 Hwy 120, Groveland this weekend from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pickups can also be made during the same time frame Monday through Thursday until supplies last.
