MAC2 Project In Forest Ready For Public Review

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Stanislaus and Eldorado National Forest, working with the Upper Mokelumne Watershed Authority, has published the Notice of Intent for the Mokelumne Amador Calaveras Forest Health and Resilience Project (MAC 2).

The aim is to restore ecosystem health, reduce wildfire and insect resilience, and support local economies. Additional actions include fuel reduction, forest thinning treatments, aspen grove, riparian, stream, and meadow improvements, and actions to reduce the spread of non-native invasive plants.

The project spans two forests, managed by the Amador Ranger District of the Eldorado National Forest and the Calaveras Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest, covering 246,838 acres. The publication on September 26th in the Federal Register initiates a 30-day public scoping period. Click here for additional information on the project and to comment.
