Fire Weather Watch For The Northern San Joaquin Valley

Sponsored by:

The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the northern San Joaquin Valley, from Thursday morning through Saturday evening.

Elevations below 1,000 feet are forecast to experience gusty winds and low humidity.

Northerly to easterly wind of fifteen to twenty-five mph is expected with gusts ranging from thirty to forty mph.

The strongest winds will occur on Friday.

Minimum daytime relative humidity of ten to twenty-five percent is likely, with the lowest anticipated on both Friday and Saturday. Overnight maximum relative humidity will range from twenty-five to forty-five percent.

The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause new fire starts. Both those and the ongoing wildfires would rapidly grow in size and intensity. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings. Monitor MyMotherLode.com for the latest weather information.
