Red Flag Warning For The Mother Lode
The Wind Advisory currently in effect for the northern San Joaquin Valley, will expire at 11 PM this evening.
North to east winds of fifteen to thirty mph will continue with gusts ranging from forty to fifty-five mph.
Such strong gusty winds can blow around unsecured objects. Secure outdoor objects especially unsecured holiday decorations. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. The wind can also make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Mother Lode and the northern San Joaquin Valley, through 5 PM Saturday
Minimum daytime relative humidity of 5 to 20 percent is expected. Moderate to poor overnight relative humidity recoveries will range from 25 to 50 percent.
The highest threat locations will be around the favorably oriented canyons in the foothills.
The combination of gusty wind and low humidity can cause new fires and ongoing wildfires to rapidly grow in size and intensity.
Outdoor burning is not recommended in the northern San Joaquin Valley and is not allowed in the Mother Lode.
