Mother Lode Job’s Numbers Dip While State Holds Steady
Sacramento, CA – The job numbers for September remain steady for the state, while the Mother Lode saw a dip in the rate.
On Friday, the Employment Development Department (EDD) released the unemployment figures for California, which did not budge from the 5.3 percent rate reached in August. In September, 14,700 nonfarm payroll jobs were added in the state. The EDD noted that over the past year, California employers added 265,300 nonfarm jobs, or 22,108 jobs a month on average since September 2023.
The Mother Lode rate trended down, with Tuolumne County’s decreasing from 5.6 percent in August to 5.1 percent last month. Calaveras County’s rate followed, dipping from 4.9 percent in August to 4.5 percent in September.
Seven of the 11 industry sectors gained jobs in September, with the largest increase in private education and health services, adding 9,600 jobs. Leisure and hospitality posted the largest reduction, down 4,400 jobs.
The nation’s declining unemployment rate continues from 4.2 percent in August to 4.1 percent in September.
