Tuolumne County DA Receives $208,238 Grant for DUI Prosecution Team

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA– The Tuolumne County District Attorney’s Office announced it has been awarded a $208,238 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to establish a specialized prosecution team focusing on alcohol- and drug-impaired driving cases. The grant program will run through September 2025.

District Attorney Cassandra Jenecke expressed gratitude for the funding, emphasizing its importance in holding impaired drivers accountable and enhancing community safety. “Impaired driving remains a significant danger on our roads,” she said. The funding will enable the district attorney’s office to improve its focus on prosecuting DUI cases and training law enforcement partners to effectively address impaired driving. The team will also collaborate with the Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor Training Program to train prosecutors and law enforcement on best practices for managing DUI cases.

This marks the first year the office has received OTS funding for a specialized DUI program, following 357 DUI cases filed last year, including 44 drug-related and nine combined alcohol and drug cases. The grant is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
