Last Weekend of October Halloween Events and More

There are many Halloween theme events planned for the weekend of October 26th, and 27th including All Hallows Fair Friday and Saturday at the Calaveras Fairgrounds in Angels Camp. The event features several live music concerts, the Harvestman Fire Show, food, drinks, and a costume contest.

Friday is Women’s Wellness Day at the Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Center in Tuolumne City from 9 AM to 6 PM.  Enjoy a day filled with self-care, health tips, information booths, vendors, nutritional snacks, women’s self-defense demonstrations, giveaways, and raffle prizes.

On Saturday catch the free Tuolumne County Health Fair from 7 AM through 2 PM at the Motherlode Fairgrounds in Sonora. There will be free health screenings and wellness exhibits, a flu shot and vaccine clinic, and lab draw vouchers for purchase. From 10 to 2 PM is Prescription Drug Takeback Day.

Saturday from 9 AM – Noon at the Twain Harte Community Center the The Twain Harte Area Community Emergency Response Team known as THA CERT is hosting a Go Bag, Pantry Prep and Severe Winter Driving presentation. Details are here.

On Saturday at 12:30 pm, Bach’s Brunch, with the Mother Lode String Quartet, will be held at Oak Hill Presbyterian Church in Sonora. The Mother Lode String Quartet is made up of four musicians residing in Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties. More details and ticket information are in the event listing here.

Saturday enjoy the La Grange Odd Fellows Holiday Craft Fair at the Hall from 8 AM to 4 PM. Event organizers detail, “You’ll find it all, down-home atmosphere, the best holiday cheer and exciting gifts.” Location details are in the event listing.

Saturday at the Junction Shopping Center, enter your child in the Costume contest at 10:30 AM and walk the parade at 11 AM to collect bunches of goodies from the Junction Merchants.

The Women Of The Moose are having their annual Children’s Halloween party Saturday. The event is from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Sonora Family Center, off Longeway. The event is free and open to the public as detailed here.

Twain Harte’s Trick-or-Treat Street is Saturday from 11 AM – 2 PM in Downtown Twain Harte. The Twain Harte businesses will be handing out candy and treats to trick-or-treaters. Businesses will also participate in a “people’s choice” decorating contest. Enjoy face painting, live music, games, and lunch at one of our many restaurants before we host our costume contest at 2:00 at The Villa. Costume Contest winners will receive prizes from our local businesses, for more details visit the event listing.

Sonora’s annual Trick or Treat Street on Washington Street is Saturday from 4 PM – 5:30 PM and the Sonora United Methodist Church is hosting a Hot dog Supper, Trunk & Treat, and Haunted Hallway Saturday from 4 – 5:30 PM. Don’t forget this Saturday and every last Saturday of the month the Tuolumne County Arts REVAMP Creative Reuse Shop has deals on all their yarn, and candy for trick-or-treaters month as well.

Saturday all ages are welcome to participate at Chalk Art in the Park from 11 AM to 2 PM. All proceeds from the event go toward the maintenance of Turner Park in San Andreas. Friends of Turner Park will provide the chalk and 60 chalk stations. More details are here. 

Saturday there is a North Fork Tuolumne River Cleanup as detailed here, and 1pileatatime volunteers are meeting this Saturday and Sunday and need trucks and trailers to haul debris and 200 volunteers to help bag. Meet near Mill Villa Estates on Mill Villa Road. Cleanup takes place from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Lunch will be provided.

Calaveras Gem & Mineral Society is hosting its Tailgate Rock Sale & Swap. The event is 9 AM – 4 PM at their Clubhouse in Angels Camp. Kids Rock and Mineral activities in the clubhouse. You shop, they play!

The Tuolumne County Library will have a Fall Book Sale Friday and Saturday from 10 AM – 4 PM.

Murphys Creek Theatre is performing “A Sign You Were Alive” at 7:30 pm on Saturday at Murphys Creek Theatre. Performances run through Nov. 3rd on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 pm, matinees on Sunday at 2 pm.

Join Fourth Wall Entertainment for “East of Oz” the new twist on the old tale is what might have happened if Dorothy’s house had landed on the Wicked Witch of the West instead of East. The dystopian version of Oz features familiar characters who tangle with the Wicked Witch of the East in this jukebox musical. Performances run through Nov. 17 on Friday and Saturday nights at 7pm, matinees on Sunday at 2 pm.

Sierra Repertory Theatre is performing “Into the Woods” at the East Sonora location. Read a blog about the play here. Performances run through Nov. 10 on Friday and Saturday nights at 7pm, matinees on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. with Wednesday matinees at noon.

The Farmers Market at Murphys Community Park is open Sundays until October 27.

Sunday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sonora, hear dozens of instruments and a full scale pipe organ at a Motherlode Organ Spectacular at 3:30pm. Organist Pat Grimm, renowned university and church organist from University of the Pacific will play a wide variety of sacred, secular and special music from her repertoire that has been shared all over the region, country, and internationally. The concert is a no cost public offering for the greater community as well as the St. Matthew congregation. Donations will be accepted for future organ events.
