Fire In Calaveras County Brings Reminder From Fire Officials
Valley Springs, CA – Air and ground resources battled the blaze this afternoon, and fire officials warn that the grass remains dry even with some rain and cooler temperatures.
The blaze broke out during the one o’clock hour on Hogan Dam Road, on the south side of New Hogan Reservoir in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County. Calaveras Consolidated Fire Department (CCFD) reports that local individuals had extinguished the 150’ x 50’ spot fire before firefighters arrived.
“Bystanders reported to firefighters that a vehicle towing a small utility trailer veered onto the roadside shoulder, dragging the trailer’s undercarriage on the roadway. This created sparks and started a small fire,” according to CCFD officials, who cautioned the public, “This is a reminder to everyone that while we are in November, the grass is dry and will burn.”
A picture in the image box shows how the trailer scraped the roadway for a couple of feet going off the roadway.
