Angels Camp, CA — More ballots were counted on Friday in Calaveras County and there was no shift in the Angels Camp City Council race.

It was one of the few contests still too close to call from Election Day.

Michael Chimente and Scott Behiel have won the first two open seats, and the latest tally shows that Caroline Schirato still holds a 14-vote lead over Mary Kelly for the final position.

Calaveras Register of Voters Rebecca Turner reports that the next vote count will be on Monday, December 2.

She adds, “There are 19 provisional ballots remaining to be processed. Voters who received letters stating their signature was missing from the yellow return envelope or their signature did not match the voter registration file can return the form to cure through December 1, 2024.”

Adding, “Counting ballots is our top priority. We are currently conducting the manual hand tally to verify the equipment counted the votes for each contest correctly. The official results will be certified on December 3, 2024.”

Chimente has 1,181 votes, Behiel is at 1,015, Schirato is at 841, Kelly is at 827 and Michael Fish has 769.
