Theft At Angels Camp Business

Sponsored by:

Angels Camp, CA — A business in Angels Camp was broken into over the weekend, with over $1,000 worth of merchandise reported stolen. SUNsual Tanning, owned by Melissa Scheller, is located on North Main Street in Angels Camp.

Scheller says they are still taking inventory, “All in all we believe $3,000 in equipment and merchandise was taken.” The tanning beds are intact but an entire unit of mobile spray tanning was taken. The locked back door was damaged from being pried open as well as a locked cabinet inside.

Scheller says, “The biggest loss, to us, is our computer. It has all clients tanning and package history.” No other personal information about her clients was in the computer and Scheller says, “The program was password protected, so no need for customers to worry.”

Scheller noted the merchandise that was taken is unique, “all the tanning lotions and packets and all our swim wear by Chica Rica.” She hopes that anyone trying to use or sell her stolen merchandise on websites or other places are reported to police as suspicious.

Scheller says they will be installing an alarm immediately but did not have one at the time. “We don’t keep much cash on hand, maybe $200 in register. It is more of an big inconvenience.”

The business has ordered a new computer and expects to open again in about a week.
