Motorcycle Chase Driver Not Caught
Murphys, CA — Angels Camp Police want your help to find a suspect who led police on a high speed chase. An officer tried to stop a blue 2011 Kawasaki motorcycle on Murphys Grade Road and Gardner Lane near Bret Harte High School last Thursday around 8:30a.m. Police say the motorcycle was going 45 mph in a 25 mph zone, and matched the description of a previously reported reckless driver.
The officer turned on his lights and siren and the motorcycle driver took off reaching speeds of 70mph. The chase ended when the motorcycle went down a dirt pathway too small for the patrol car near El Camino Casale.
The CHP and Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies joined in the search for the motorcycle. Police say the bike was found lying on its side with the headlights on and the ignition was altered, but the driver was nowhere to be found.
The driver is described as a white male adult, approximately 6 feet tall and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue helmet, white t-shirt with a light colored plaid shirt over the t-shirt, and blue jeans.
Angels Camp Police says the motorcycle was stolen and was returned to the owner in Arnold. If you have any information on the theft or driver involved in the high-speed chase please call the Angels Camp Police Department at (209) 736-2567 or click here.
