Dome Campus Events This Saturday

Sponsored by:

This Saturday a number of opening day festivities will take place around the Sonora Dome Campus.

Jim Gormely, representative with both the Sonora Lions and the Master Gardeners, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Events begin at 10 AM with the TCAA Birthday Party that will continue through 2 PM. TCAA is the Tuolumne County Arts Alliance (formerly Central Sierra Arts Council) and they recently relocated to the Dome Campus. The George Post Arts Gallery will also soon be moving onto the campus. Kids Art and projects from Kids Art Studies Academy (KASA) will be showcased from 10 AM through 2 PM. Birthday cake will be served.

The Master Gardeners will conduct Open Garden Tours from 10 AM through 2 PM.

At 11 AM the dedication of the new Baseball Field will take place. This field is a part of the Sonora Union High School District. The renovation of the field began two years ago. Funding came in part thanks to the Sonora Area Foundation and Major League Baseball’s “Baseball Tomorrow Fund”.

From noon through 2 PM, the re-dedication of the Lions Park will be held. This is a newly re-furbished park located on the north end of the historic Dome property. It has picnic tables and is open to the public. Hot dogs will be available.

Live music will also be featured from 10 AM through 2 PM.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45am.
