Alliance Raises Awareness Of Local Hate Crimes
The Tuolumne County Human Relations Alliance (TCHRA) is an open group of individuals who have come together to promote acceptance and respect for everyone in Tuolumne County.
Paolo Maffei, TCHRA Board Chair, was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Maffei said that the mission of TCHRA is to promote mutual respect, understanding, and acceptance among all persons, affirming the inherent value of each and every member of our shared community, acknowledging the diversity of race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, disability, gender, sexual orientation or socio-economic status.
TCHRA (sounds like “tech-ruh”) is responsible for raising the awareness of the community regarding the incidents of discrimination/hate crimes in Tuolumne County, and how people can help change and celebrate all the positive happenings for diversity. TCHRA is seeking community involvement from community and organizations including creating a speakers bureau.
The Alliance identifies hate incidents/crimes and provides comfort and help to those who may be or are victims. TCHRA also is working with the community to identify bullying.
Board meeting days and times: 4th Monday of the month at the Tuolumne County Library from 6-8PM. This month only, the meeting will take place on April 30th. All of the meetings are open to the public.
