A face Lift For Bus Stops
Calaveras County, CA — Caltrans is giving it 80 thousand dollars to make improvements on its transit system.
Those will include an automated vehicle location system, upgrading bus stops and schedule holders.
In total, Caltrans is awarding nearly $350 million in grants statewide. The funding comes from Proposition 1B passed by voters in 2006. So far, it has given $1.7 billion in funding to more than 700 transit projects in the state. Already 216 of those are completed.
Caltrans Director, Malcolm Dougherty says Not only will these projects help create jobs, they will also reduce traffic congestion, clean the air, and provide Californians with more viable alternatives to rising gas prices.
