Governor Fast Tracks Environmental Review

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — Governor Jerry Brown has signed two bills designed to fast track the environmental review process for a football stadium in downtown Los Angeles.

Brown stated, “It is time for big thinking and big projects that put Californians back to work.”

The $1.2 billion stadium will still have to go through the CEQA review process, but any lawsuits would go directly to the California Court of Appeals, bypassing the Superior Court. The appeals court would then have 175 days to make a ruling.

The Governor’s office estimates that 23,000 jobs will be created as a result of the project, and say it will be the most environmentally advanced stadium in the United States.
