J-59 Reconstruction Starts
Sonora, CA — Motorists planning to travel on J-59 should be prepared for a delay.
Construction on the J-59 reconstruction project starts up this morning and will continue for approximately 5-6 weeks.
12.5 miles will be reconstructed from Hwy 108 to the Stanislaus County line. Stanislaus County is overseeing the reconstruction from the Tuolumne County line to Hwy 132.
A pilot car will assist with traffic control and delays of 20 minutes can be expected.
Over $2 million was allocated for the project last year through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Tuolumne County had also received an additional $2 million for the project a few years earlier from a federal transportation bill.
