Big Turnout For Meals On Wheels
Jamestown, CA– The 4th Annual Meals On Wheels fundraiser was a big success. According to Mike Ruggles, CEO of Sierra Senior Providers, the weekend event at Railtown in Jamestown sold 330 tickets and raised $74,500.
That money will help benefit the 58,000 seniors and others in the local community who rely on the Meals On Wheels program. “We were extremely pleased. We just had a wonderful turnout, probably the biggest turnout we’ve had. It was a wonderful event, I think people really enjoyed themselves,” said Ruggles.
Meals on Wheels is a program for Seniors 60+ years of age, who are homebound and/or cannot cook for themselves. Sierra Senior Providers deliver hot, nutritionally balanced meals to the home. A person needing a home delivered meal service can have meals for five days and two frozen meals for the weekend. Meals are prepared and packaged by the Meals on Wheels staff at the Tuolumne County Senior Center. Hot, home delivered meal service is offered five days a week to the Sonora, Tuolumne, Jamestown, Columbia and Phoenix Lake areas.
This was the major fundraiser for Meals On Wheels with 100 volunteers donating their time for the event.
