Weekend Winter Storm Watch Issued
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada from Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.
Winds of twenty-five to forty mph are likely from Thursday through Sunday over the higher ridges. Gusts of up to seventy-five mph are possible over the crest.
Snow levels will lower to 2000 feet from Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.
Four to eight inches of snow is expected above 2500 feet. A foot of snow is possible around 4000 feet. A foot to three feet of snow is likely above 6000 feet.
Sierra snow showers may linger into Monday and Tuesday.
As of Thursday morning Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass, Highway 88 Carson Pass and Highway 120 Tioga Pass were all open with no restrictions. Highway 108 Sonora Pass remains closed at Kennedy Meadows.
