Travel With Caution Over Spill Area
Sonora, CA– The forecasted rain combined with this morning’s diesel spill along Mono Way from the Standard Road intersection/bypass down to Greenley Road, may increase the chance of unsafe driving conditions.
According to Rob Kostlivy, Environmental Health Director for the County, the Public Works Department has done a great job putting down absorbent material to soak up the excess fuel but the upcoming rains may pull up more fuel to the road surface. This can cause vehicles to slip especially when braking at the Standard Road off ramp, and at any stoplight traveling toward Sonora or Mono Way, all the way to the intersection of Greenley Road and Cabezut/Morningstar Drive.
Motorists are urged for the next 24 hours to drive with great care during the upcoming winter storm period, taking special precaution to drive at slower speeds on Mono Way from Standard Road Junction down to Greenley Road and the Cabezut/Morningstar Drive intersection.
