County Employers to Participate in Friday’s Welfare to Workforce Forum
The Tuolumne County Welfare to Work Program is inviting its partners, as well as a number of employers, to a Workforce Forum that will be held this Friday at the Sonora Blood Bank.
Mitchy Anderson, the Welfare to Work Supervisor, was KVML’s Thursday Newsmaker of the Day.
Welfare to Work is the employment services portion of Cal Works which is California’s administration of Temporary Assisistance to Needy Families (TANF), a federal program.
Anderson said that there has been an increase in the number of local families seeking temporary assistance.
Although this is not an employment workshop, the forum is designed so that social services and private business employers (such as Black Oak Casino, Wal-Mart and Sonora Regional Medical Center) can work together in offering suggestions and preferably increase job opportunities in addition to reducing Tuolumne County’s growing unemployment.
For more information regarding Friday’s Forum call (209) 533-5711.
The Newsmaker of the Day can be heard each weekday morning at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47 on AM-1450 KVML.
