Superintendent Recommends Closure of Sullivan Creek Elementary
Standard, CA — The Curtis Creek School District Board of Trustees will have a significant decision to make Monday, as Superintendent Britta Skavdahl is recommending that Sullivan Creek Elementary be closed due to tough budget times.
The students and a majority of the teachers would move to Curtis Creek Elementary.
“The Curtis Creek District has had a declining enrollment pattern for the past 15 years,” says Skavdahl. “We have had absolutely unprecedented state budget cuts, so we have a $394,000 a year problem to solve, and will still be in a fairly precarious fiscal condition.”
Currently there are 170 students at the Sullivan Creek campus located on Hidden Valley Rd., and 430 at Curtis Creek on Standard Rd.
Monday’s meeting will begin at 6pm at the Curtis Creek Gymnasium.
