Arrest Following Sonora High Speed Chase

Sonora, CA — Law enforcement agencies were involved in a chase Monday evening in downtown Sonora that ended with the arrest of 33-year-old Brian Keith Knight.

It started when a Tuolumne County Sheriff’s deputy noticed Knight’s vehicle traveling over the speed limit on Stockton Rd. When the deputy attempted to pullover Knight, the suspect accelerated. A chase ensued throughout the downtown area. At one point Knight’s vehicle clipped the rear end of a Sheriff’s Office patrol car, and he also nearly ran over a Sonora Police officer who was on foot.

Knight eventually jumped out of his car in the area of the Mother Lode Fairgrounds and he was captured and taken into custody.

Knight has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, evading, DUI and resisting arrest.
