Knight Fire Reaches 25 Percent Containment

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Firefighters have now reached 25 percent containment on the Knight Fire in the Stanislaus National Forest, and it is over 2,700 acres in size.

“We’ll be using heli-tankers and other aircraft to our advantage today to cool the fire and keep the burn intensity moderated,” says Pat Kaunert of the Stanislaus National Forest. “It is so we can get a good take on our burnout operations while at the same time cooling the main advance of the fire so that when the two meet we have success.”

The Crandall Peak Staging Area and the Sand Bar Flat Campground are currently not accessible to the public because of fire operations.
