Dirty Water Will Pass

Sonora, CA — The cause of the dirty water in the Twain Harte area this morning is due to the Wednesday fire that took the life of an elderly woman and destroyed a private residence on South Fork Rd.
According to Lisa Westbrook from Tuolumne Utilities District, the firefighters drafted water out of the distribution system at a high rate of flow to combat the fire that occurred on South Fork Road last night.
When this occurred it stirred up water in the pipes which can cause water to be discolored or look dirty. Typically this only occurs in older water distribution systems. Once the demand on the water system diminishes, customers should again have clear quality water.
