San Andreas, CA — 68 year old Marvell Herren suffered moderate injuries in a single vehicle accident during the Monday noon hour. Herren was southbound on Hwy 49 a quarter mile south of Amador-Calaveras County line when she allowed her 2005 Toyota Matrix to leave the roadway and roll down a steep embankment 100 feet from the roadway. The vehicle came to rest on its rooftop. Passersby rushed to her aid. A litter basket was used by fire department personnel due to the steep terrain. Her small dog, Teddy, also survived the crash. The CHP credits her seatbelt use as possibly saving her life. Written by bill.johnson@mlode.com
