Calaveras Sheriff’s Department Updating Technology
San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department will soon have the ability to link computers in patrol cars directly into the county’s dispatch center.
Captain Clay Hawkins says the new microwave tower system will cost around $1.1 million to install.
“Based on research and studies, productivity on an individual deputy could be increased as much as 30 percent,” says Hawkins.
Deputies will be able to check records directly from their patrol cars, rather than take time to call in requests to dispatch.
Funding for the technology will come from a variety of state and federal grants. The installation will occur over the next year.
