North Mountain Fire Now Five Percent Contained

Sonora, CA — According to Stanislaus National Forest Public Affairs Officer Pat Kaunert the 605 acre North Mountain Fire is now five percent contained.
177 firefighters are on scene and that number includes six 20 person hand crews. In addition there are two helicopters with water drops and three air tankers.
Due to the steep terrain engines, water tenders and bulldozers cannot be utilized to fight the four day old lightning caused fire located 19 miles northeast of Groveland.
Due to the lack of spread this fire continues to pose no danger to any foothill community.
