Yosemite Search Upgraded For Missing Honduran Hiker
Yosemite National Park, CA — Ranger Adrienne Freeman states that the number of searchers for 24 year old Esmin Garmendia-Barriors has increased to 125 effective Tuesday.
Searchers from Yosemite, the California Conservation Core, Bay Area Mountain Rescue Unit and China Lake Search and Rescue are all involved in the effort. In addition volunteers from Mono, Marin, Santa Clara, Ventura, Fresno, Contra Costa, Santa Barbara and Sierra Madre counties are on hand.
A helicopter and dog teams are also involved in the search.
Anyone in the area ONLY of Sentinel Dome, Washburn Point or Glacier Point or on the Pohono, Panorama, Illilouette or Four Mile trails after 2pm on Sunday are asked to please contact the Investigation Unit at (209) 372-0311. Any information, even from those who did not see the Central American hiker, will assist the park staff in focusing on the appropriate search area.
