Stanton Rejects Plea Bargain

Sonora, CA — This morning at a Readiness Conference 30 year old David Roy Stanton rejected an undisclosed plea bargain from the District Attorney´s office.

Stanton is now scheduled for a jury trial to start at 8am on May 14 in Department Four of Tuolumne County Superior Court with Judge Eleanor Provost presiding.

On February 27 Stanton´s initial trial ended with a hung jury. 10 jurors voted for a second degree murder charge while the remaining two voted for voluntary manslaughter.

The second trial will determine the degree of the unlawful killing of 29 year old Jon Steven Flaherty of Wallace on August 25th.

Stanton has already been convicted of a felon is possession of a firearm.
