Tuolumne County Education Dignitary Passes Away

Sonora, Ca — Marjorie Louise Coffill, a charter member of the Columbia College Hall of Fame, passed away Friday morning at the age of 90.

Coffill was a past President of the Columbia College Foundation and served on the school´s Advisory Committee. She had a particular interest in education, also serving as a Trustee of the Sonora High School District.

When mental health services were first established in Tuolumne County, Coffill served seven years on the Mental Health Advisory Board.

Coffill´s honors include being named the Tuolumne County Citizen of the Year by the Sonora Lions Club and the Outstanding Citizen of Tuolumne County by the Chamber of Commerce.

Services are scheduled for Tuesday at 1pm at the Red Church in Sonora. Her late husband, William C. Coffill, passed away in 1989.
