Measure J Bond Issuance On Tap For Calaveras Supervisors
San Andreas, CA — Coming before the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors today will be discussion and possible action regarding the issuance of Measure J Bonds for the new jail complex.
While Sheriff Dennis Downum remains confident his department will receive the entire $26 million it has requested from the state´s AB900 Jail Funding package, so far the county has only been granted $10 million.
One major concern expressed by the supervisors; property owners could be taxed at a higher rate than originally projected. Prior to the Measure J vote, it was predicted that over the life of the bonds, residents would pay in the neighborhood of $18.37 per $100,000 of assessed property valuation.
