Calaveras Traffic Accident Leads To Arrest
Valley Springs, CA — A Stockton man was arrested following an investigation into a traffic accident on Hwy 26 near Olive Orchard Rd. in Valley Springs.
Sgt. Dave Seawell with the Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department says that Gregory Everett II showed signs of being under the influence, so the Highway Patrol was requested to arrive and administer a sobriety test. While waiting for the CHP, a witness told deputies that they observed Everett dumping the contents of a backpack into a nearby field.
Law enforcement officers investigated and found numerous pills, some of which were determined to be ?Norco? (narcotic pain reliever). A search was then conducted of Everett´s vehicle, and deputies located a tool used to unlock car doors, a police scanner and a methamphetamine smoking pipe.
Everett was booked into Calaveras County Jail on charges of DUI, possession of burglary tools, attempting to destroy/conceal evidence and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. The incident occurred earlier this week.
