Tuolumne County Furloughs To Start Wednesday
Sonora, CA — Due to budget constraints, Tuolumne County administrative personnel will be furloughed effective Wednesday, December 24 through Friday, January 2.
At the same time CAO Craig Pedro is emphatic that all emergency services, including snow plowing by the Public Works Department, will be on line 24/7 through the Holiday Season.
This furlough plan was approved by the Board of Supervisors June 17. The most common number discussed for potential costs savings has been $300,000. However that was the estimated savings within the General Fund alone. Pedro is now estimating potential savings of another $100,000 from all other county funds including roads, Tuolumne General Medical Facility, the two county airports, VNA Hospice, etc.
According to Pedro, “These savings, to the extent they could be confidently estimated, were built into this year´s proposed and final budgets.”
