Explosion Rocks S.P.I. Plant

Sonora, CA — An explosion rocked the S.P.I. plant on Camage Ave. moments after three o´clock this morning.
Plant Manager Ryan Land says a steam line from a boiler to the dry kiln failed resulting in the explosion.
Fortunately no plant personnel were in the area of the explosion. Land added that the plant will be closed today.
Tuolumne County Fire Marshall Kary Hubbard stated that an investigation into the cause of the malfunction is underway. At this hour there is no estimate as to the amount or cost of the damage.
