A Deadly Weekend In The Mother Lode
Sonora, CA — It was a deadly weekend in the Mother Lode with four individuals losing their lives.
In addition 30 year old Angels Camp police officer Jared Poortinga, who was killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday morning, 34 year old Jamie Baca of Coulterville was killed late Saturday evening when his Dodge pickup failed to negotiate a right turn on Greeley Hill Rd. east of Dog Town Rd. According to the CHP report, Baca was not ejected from his vehicle, but he was not wearing a safety restraint belt.
36 year old Verdell Meyerhoff of Mi Wuk died Sunday evening at Doctors Hospital in Modesto after his 2003 Kawasaki collided with a vehicle that was making a U-turn on Hunts Rd. east of Longeway Rd. at 3:30 that afternoon. That vehicle was driven by 34 year old Tracy Riggs of Tuolumne.
Sunday evening, just before seven o´clock, 43 year old Enilda Estrada of Guatemala died of injuries she suffered when the vehicle in which she was riding collided with a car driven by Jerry Dumolt of LaGrange who was attempting to make a left hand turn into a driveway at 9765 Banderilla Drive. Estrada was a backseat passenger.
