Board Responds To Calaveras Grand Jury
San Andreas, CA — At the request of the 2006/2007 Calaveras County Grand Jury the Board of Supervisors has responded to inquiries into Animal Services and the jail problem identified in the 2005/2006 report.
In regards to Animal Services the county says appropriate action has been taken to correct department deficiencies.
For the jail problem, the county acknowledged the jury´s findings and detailed what it was doing to correct the situation.
The board responded saying the county is looking at a proposal for the November ballot and a facilities fee on new development to pay for a new jail.
Additionally, it says the current modified moratorium on development is helping curb new construction until the jail needs are addressed in the General Plan Update.
